A Wii bit longer...

We had more than a great breakfast on Valentine's Day.

Daniel now has Lego set he really, really wanted, but he had to make some really hard decisions and good choices to get it.

When Daniel had seen this set he was completely smitten. We discussed its high price tag, and began to work out a plan. Daniel made the decision to exchange some other toys he'd asked for and gotten at Christmastime, but quickly lost interest in and had yet to play with.

By doing that and adding in a few dollars of the money he'd been saving in his piggy bank, he had enough to buy the toy he truly wanted. This was the first thing Daniel bought with the money he'd saved, so we're pretty pleased with how it turned out.

And now he's saving for the Wii, so around these parts there are plenty of conversations that sound like this:

Daniel: Can I please have 25 cents for a gumball?

Me: Well, you may have 25 cents. But would you rather have that gumball, or would you rather put the 25 cents in your piggy bank and save up for your Wii?

In this case he chose saving for the Wii. But he did choose a train ride over the Wii that same day, so Nintendo will have to wait a wee bit longer for Daniel's money.
