First Grade...Passing the Mantle
This summer sure was jam-packed with fun, but it inevitably came to an end. Daniel donned his new school shirt, his new backpack (with only one strap, doncha know), and his Scooby Doo lunchbox and we were off...
Just like last year, we started the day with a walk to school with good friends Ella and Marco...
Dan was happy to be in the same classroom with the same teacher, the lovely Ms. Irwin...
And even happier to be in the class with one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, TEN other boys his age! That's 8 more than in last year's class.
Not only that - there is a little girl in the class whose birthday is August 31st - a full forty-two days past Daniel. Which means he is no longer the youngest in his class - an honor he was desperate to avoid this year.
I was in and out of the classroom all day, and got to join the kids n the lunchroom for awhile.
If we can keep the kids from picking their nose all day, it will probably be a great year!
Yes, I really think so.
