Daniel has taken to saying, "Kaboom!" when something falls - including him.Last night he had a really big Kaboom. He fell down our stairs. From the top to the bottom. He bumped his face and he now has a fat lip and a few slightly loose teeth. Our good friend and dentist Joe Imbriale made a very much appreciated house call, and assures us that the ligaments will tighten up and he'll be as good as new.
We are so relieved. It could have been much, much worse.
The biggest casualty of the Big Kaboom is the loss of Daniel's binky.
We knew it had to go. We didn't want to make him give it up cold turkey. We wanted to ease him off it by talking about it alot first, then have him give them to Pete's cousin Deb's babies when they are born, or soon after. But now, with his injury, it had to go.
Daniel is not at the language stage where he understands that he's injured, or can be reasoned with. That's why we were waiting - we wanted him to have some understanding. At this point the only thing we can say that he understands is "Binky all gone."
Poor kid is heartbroken.
Then, after his nap, we went for a walk. What happened? You guessed it. Kaboom! He got his first ever skinned knee. And he didn't cry at all.
Parenting is tough.

Boo Hoooo! Poor little guy. I'm so glad he's okay.
Hugs!!!!
Parenting is tough, and being a toddler makes you tough? I am glad Dan is okay and his smile is still beaming and contagious!
Parenting IS tough. Here's to fast healing and tranquility for Mama (since Daniel seems to have bounced back pretty well already, but I know very well that the trauma of injuries stays much longer with Mama...).
Awww...those pics are great! He doesn't look phased by it at all! We are still stuck with the paci, but thank goodness only while sleeping.
Awwww......poor little monkey!!
Why did the binky have to go? Was it related to his fall?
Yes, anonymous. A few of his teeth were slightly loosened in the fall. The dentist assured us that the ligaments will tighten up again but recommended taking away the binky so that his teeth are not pushed out.
So it had to go.
Awwww, poor little bean. Sounds like a rough day for sure!!! I am glad to hear it will be OK though! ()()()
