I really wish we lived closer to a zoo. If we did I'd take Dan more often. After awhile perhaps the bathroom would hold less allure...
Nevertheless we managed to have some fun on a stifling hot day (note to self: next time go in December!).
The flamingos are always beautiful...

but our visit was cut short...
So Dan could see something that really interested him...

Pete really liked the camel, perhaps too much...
Of course the first thing Dan said was, "A one hump camel has a one hump poop!"
Dan pulled some grass to feed the elephants...
And do you know what? Elephants really do have big poop!
After three hours in 90+ degree weather we poured ourselves back into the car and went home to rest for a little while before the next part of Dan's birthday commenced...
