Dan loves going to the library. Every Tuesday he goes to see his favorite librarian, Mrs. Maureen, for Toddler Storytime. Dan and the other kids sing songs and occasionally Mrs. Maureen will attempt to actually read them a story. Most of the other kids sit in their Mom's lap, or on the quilt on the floor.
Dan has other ideas. He will occasionally sit - on the quilt, or in Mrs. Maureen's lap. Most often though, he wanders the room. Often he sets such a wonderful example that other children run around after him.
After story time we often go to the pool. Today we went with Marco and Ella, two of Dan's good friends. Their Mom Trish was there, too. We were joined by Phillip and his Mom, Christiane.
Several cool things happened. First, a huge - and I mean HUGE - iguana came onto the deck by the lake. All the kids loved looking at him - from a safe distance. The iguana was pointed out to us by the very attractive gentleman who was drinking beer out of a plastic container (no glass at the pool, ya know) while serenading us with folk music strummed on his guitar. Then he told us how he bought his house as a foreclosure 12 years ago for $64,000. That would have made me green, but I don't like the 3 bedroom units.
My favorite part of the day was when Daniel ran into the men's room. The occupied men's room. My boy is obsessed with toilets, you see. I modestly averted my eyes as I ran in behind Daniel, apologizing the whole way. The man standing at the urinal and didn't seem to let my presence bother him.
A good time was had by all.
By the way, Pepperidge Farm goldfish don't swim.
