Daniel will help light the night ...

 

My friends James and Jerri Lawless have been battling James' Lymphoma for quite awhile. He was first diagnosed with Lymphoma in early 2004, but was properly diagnosed with Mantle Cell, a rare aggressive form of Lymphoma, in November, 2005. James was fortunate to have undergone a stem cell transplant in January of this year. He has responded well to the treatment and is now in full remission. James plans to return to work in January. Wonderful news!

I also have a very dear cousin, Cheryl, who has been fighting this albatross with a grace and style I admire so very much.

Saturday, October 6th is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night stroll in Fort Lauderdale. The Light The Night Walk is a two-mile twilight walk during which participants carry illuminated balloons to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by blood cancer. Supporters carry red balloons, patients and survivors carry white balloons while gold balloons commemorate lives lost to cancer. Together we "light the night" and truly brighten the future for millions of patients and their families.

We will be walking in Cheryl & James' honor, but also in honor of all those who have battled any kind of cancer and won, or lost- as we lost our beloved Sandi this year. Daniel will come, too. I might even take a few pictures...

Our team is named The James Gang in honor of James. He literally owes his life to the research and treatment advances made possible by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute. Science has come a long way but we are not there yet! He gives us hope that others will beat the odds...
