Dan has always loved sleeping in his crib. He's never tried to get out, and hasn't protested at all that he needs a bog boy bed. Our plan has been to keep him in the crib until we move, and then get him a regular bed for his new room in the new house.
Only one little problem.
We've been getting ready to move for almost as long as Daniel's been alive. Many different things have conspired to hold us back - some of the reasons we haven't moved are even quite good and important. So here we still are...with a three year old still sleeping in a crib.
In and of itself that might not be the worst thing that ever happened. He's happy. He's not cramped. BUT.
Daniel has now mastered the potty. He hasn't had an accident since his first day in big boy underwear - EXCEPT napping or overnight in his crib. The poor kid is in jail and couldn't get out if he wanted to...
SO.
Today Pete converted Dan's crib into a toddler bed. Daniel wasn't pleased upon first seeing it, protesting, "Daddy broke my crib!". He was momentarily distraught that there was a "hole" in it, and that the side would no longer go up.
Despite his skepticism, he napped this afternoon pretty uneventfully. Tonight we made a big deal out of him being a big boy and getting into bed on his own, which pleased him to no end.
I don't think he's figured out the whole delay - bedtime - using - various - stalls - that-have-come-down-through-the-ages thing. Yet.
Meanwhile, I get to deal with another milestone in the rearview mirror.
