Dan's response to the news that it's time to take a nap is usually a very loud, long, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!", followed by the usual insistence that, "I'm not TIRED!", despite the eye rubbing and general orneriness.
He always goes eventually.
Today I was on the phone with my sister and she suggested I tell him he can lie down and close his eyes, but he doesn't have to sleep.
He replied that instead he'd sleep with one eye open. Like this:
