We really didn't rush to open presents this year. We'd invited my Dad and his girlfriend to share the fun, and we had plans to go to Yaya's for brunch at ten. Dan, unbelievably, slept until about 7:15, so he watched TV while I took a shower, then we even woke Pete and he did the same. Enough detail for ya?
We always start with the stockings. I don't know why - it'ss just what we've always done.
Of course Phoebe gets a stocking, and she really loooved her presents!
The Phineas and Ferb shirt was a special gift from Daddy, and a huge hit!
The radio-controlled Publix truck was a big hit with Dan, and even bigger with Daddy...
The Nerf fun was one of Santa's gifts...
But the new backpack was from Mom and Dad. Daddy says giving a backpack iss like giving underwear, but whatever. The kid needed a new backpack.
Other people opened presents, too. I didn't get many shots of those. Here's one, though, of my Dad's gifts - frames for the professional family photos we took over Thanksgiving. I took the liberty of replacing the store's generic image with a Warhol-inspired collage of photos of Daniel. He's so cute perhaps I should just get my Dad MORE frames for those Connecticut photos...
And, finally, the piece de resistance'! Santa DID bring Daniel his Polar Express train set!
We had such fun, and we munched on some goodies until we had to leave for Yaya's traditional Christmas Brunch. Afterward there were even more presents, and we left Yaya's house with full tummies and a full-of-presents trunk.
The rest of the day was very mellow. Our best friends came over and we had a very low-key barbecue, and just enjoyed each other's company. Life has been lifing along so we hadn't seen them terribly much in 2009, so it was lovely to see them three days in a row at holiday time.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
